- How to have fun and enjoy engaging with your customers
So, you've got a fantastic business idea brewing, but you're wondering how to get the word out without breaking the bank or losing your mind (or all your free time). With so many options, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. Facebook groups, podcasts, email marketing, live events - the list goes on and on! Sound familiar? I hear you, and I want to help you!
The most important thing I want you to know is that the best promotion strategy is the one that works for YOU. It's not about doing ALL THE THINGS. It's about finding what lights you up and what your audience responds to.
In this newsletter, I will share my top six promotion strategies for busy mamas who want results without being overwhelmed.
#1 Do what feels good
Put your time and effort into promotion methods that you enjoy. Pick one or two promotion methods you enjoy spending time on and dive deep. Maybe you're a natural on camera, and YouTube is your jam. Or perhaps you love writing, and a blog is your happy place. The key is to find what feels good and get results.
#2 Engage with your customers
Where do your customers want to hear from you? Where are they spending their time? If they see your efforts, customers are likelier to engage with your valuable content and paid offerings. Have good conversations with your customers and act on what you find out.
#3 Do what you can do
Be honest with yourself about your capacity and what you can manage at times on your business journey. Don't try to do all the things if it is physically impossible for you to do. Be careful to avoid busy work when you sit down to work. A mama's work time is precious, so don't don't spin your wheels creating content for the sake of it. I highly recommend putting systems in place. A content creation system will vary from business owner to business owner, but always plan what you will create and how you will create it when you sit down rather than waste a lot of time researching and brainstorming.
#4 Follow your data
What is your analytics data telling you? Are your customers seeing your content? Are they engaging with it? Are they clicking through to your offers? Also, where are your customers coming from geographically, what platforms are they finding you from, and are they on mobile or computers? When things are working, double down on them and promote more heavily in those areas. If they are not, analyse why it is not working, make changes, and test and evaluate as you go. If you need help with this, be sure to get in touch.
#5 Tune in to your competitor strategies
Have you considered what works well for similar businesses in your industry? What are your competitors doing, and can you tap into some of their success? For example, if a similar business is doing very well on YouTube and hosting in-person events, then perhaps you could test a similar strategy. Of course, I am not advocating that you copy what they are doing, but rather just tune into what is strategically producing results that may be transferrable for you, too.
#6 Don't limit yourself to online promotion methods
While we can become very focused on online promotion methods nowadays, remember that in-person strategies can be very effective. Talk to people. It is amazing how many new referrals can come through your existing networks. Consider in-person networking events, letterbox drops, PR events, guest speaking, handing out business cards and offers, and other forms of promotion not centred around technology.
I hope these tips have given you some ideas for authentically promoting your business without burning out. Your promotion plan should fit your business and life, not vice versa!
