Creating Time in Your Week - Wake Up Early

OK, so I must confess I am still working on waking up early in the morning. Unlike my son, who has always loved waking up in the 5s (aggghhh!!!), I have never been an early riser, and it has always been a stretch for me. We currently have both kids asleep between 7-8 pm, and my husband and I love having some time together, and to ourselves, so we find it hard to go to bed early, which would make getting up earlier easier.

I can see, though, that you are so fresh in the morning and can get so much done without distractions. You can put yourself on the front foot for the day by getting organised and getting out and about early. I always remember influencer and entrepreneur Rachel Hollis talking about her family routine and the importance of giving yourself the first hour of the day for exercise/self-care/meditation/projects rather than the last when you are exhausted and fried. Rachel showed a lot of discipline by going to bed early, which included putting PJs on and brushing her teeth with her kids as they were going to bed. She always emphasised the importance of getting your body moving in the morning to get your energy flowing and look after yourself.
