Making a Start - Tracking Performance
Sep 21, 2022Making a Start - Tracking Performance
It is crucial to track your business's metrics to ensure that you are on track and achieving your goals. Such metrics include the number of subscribers, website visitors, income, number of purchases by product and social media followers. You can make a start by recording these numbers at a high level, but over time drill down into them in a lot more detail.
Review and evaluation give you visibility about what may be driving success or poor performance, enabling you to tweak as necessary. Accountability is so important. Tracking performance also helps to set and achieve goals, celebrate achievements and observe your growth and evolution over time. Particular initiatives, such as a marketing campaign or launch, can be scrutinised to see what worked and didn't.
I recommend creating an Excel spreadsheet on which you can record your data over time. Then, update it regularly so that you can observe the changes. Data is available on social account insights tools, in Google Analytics, your website, and on sales platforms.
Also, celebrate your wins. Set up a board in Trello where you can screenshot and record your wins as they occur so that you can look at them regularly and enjoy your achievements. Record metrics on the board, for example, milestone sales figures and numbers of subscribers, but also notes from clients, photos from launches and go-lives and favourable reviews. Use them to keep filling you with motivation and inspiration.
