Today, in 2 minutes or less, you'll learn:

  1. Why you should consider scaling right from the start of your business.
  2. Why I plan to include a course offering in my business growth plan.
  3. How a florist made millions of dollars by sharing her skills with a broader audience.

Whenever I work one-on-one with Mums, I love to plant the seed of whether they can scale their business to ensure it thrives without overburdening themselves. Creating a scalable offering is an important consideration right from the start of your business. As a busy mum, making your business viable by working one-on-one with clients and trading your time for an hourly rate can be challenging. However, selling your offer in a scalable way to reach multiple clients simultaneously multiplies your impact and success and opens up tremendous opportunities for you.

Breaking Free from Time Constraints

I love the time I spend one-on-one coaching with mums and wish I had a lot of capacity for it, but, like many of you, I have found it challenging to offer at this stage of my life. I struggle to commit to the exact times of the day required by appointment bookings. I only have limited time each week, and my schedule goes out the window when my kids are sick, or something family-related pops up. For every hour of coaching, I also found two to three hours of admin tasks loomed over me—research, prep, follow-up emails, billing—the list seemed endless.

That is why selling a course is an essential element of my business growth plan. I am determined to help and inspire more mums to start businesses, and a course offering is an ideal solution as it transcends time zones, schedules, and even sick days. Accessibility is key. No longer restricted to specific hours or appointments, my course will always be available, ready to empower and inspire whenever and wherever needed.

This flexibility and freedom is what scalable business models can offer, putting you in control of your time and resources.

Embracing Scalable Solutions

Think about ways this can apply to your business, too. If your time is also limited or your business growth is hitting a ceiling, how can you scale what you offer?

If you have a service-based offer, can it be available in different formats to lift your sales? For example, if you are an artist who paints, can you also create a course that teaches people some of the skills you use in your work? Can you create a membership to share regular content or resources for a monthly, quarterly or annual financial commitment? If you are a life coach/counsellor, can you make a mindset group coaching program or sell audio resources or e-books? If you sell a product, can you create a subscription, as many wineries do with their monthly wine boxes? This model helps to keep customers engaged and sales consistent.

I love the example I heard of a florist who transformed her passion into profit by teaching the art of creating flower arches for weddings through an online course. With a platform like Kajabi, she shared her expertise with a large audience, making millions of dollars. This was such a simple idea and such an interesting way for her to share her skills and meet the huge demand there was for learning this skill. It's a great example of the potential of scaling your business.

I hope this concept has inspired something for you, too. Remember, the key is to work smarter, not harder, by finding innovative ways to package and present your skills and products. This approach enhances your business viability and ensures you can more effectively balance work and family life.
