Making a Start - Recording Videos
Sep 30, 2022Making a Start - Recording Videos
Video creation has recently become a significant focus for me as I have produced content for my Online Business for Mamas course. Given mums are so pressed for time, I have delivered most of my content through short videos that can be watched when opportunities present themselves (even if it is folding clothing or doing dishes).
I purchased a Logitech Brio camera to improve the quality of my videos. This camera is impressive as it has a built-in microphone (up to one meter from the camera), filters the image quality automatically and can film in different modes – from up close to further away. In addition, it was quick and easy to install and relatively inexpensive (we price matched from Amazon at Officeworks for $250).
Light significantly affects video quality, mainly when filming at night. I must work well at night, as this is when my kids are asleep, and I often find myself filming when our house is quiet. I have a large ring light on a stand that I place in front of my computer so that my face is lit up. I will continue to play around with getting excellent lighting that doesn't cast shadows on my face.
I have been recording and editing my videos in Canva. I have found it very easy to use. First, I record a video on its own or with me in a small circle on my computer screen. I then exit the video studio and access the editing features available, including cropping (the beginning or end of my recording) and adding an introduction slide (my logo) to each video.
As I get further into my video production, I will also explore using Handbrake to compress videos (at present, many of my videos are short, and I haven't exceeded the 4GB upload limit on Kajabi). I will also investigate Otter to make my videos accessible for deaf people and create transcripts for my videos (and other audio such as podcasts).
