I believe mindset is a huge component of setting up a business and achieving success. I have spent a lot of time in the coaching world, and one of the best concepts I have heard is the importance of tuning into your thoughts, feelings, and actions cycle. By this, I mean that your thoughts create your feelings, and your feelings, in turn, dictate your actions.  

  

Let me give you an example.  

 

If you think, 'Creating a website is so hard. I can't do it,' you will likely feel deflated, defeated, and/or sad. You will most likely take the following action: 

  • Give up  
  • Procrastinate 
  • Buffer with time wasters such as TV and social media 
  • Not get anything done 

 

If you become more aware of your thoughts and feelings, you can become more intentional about your goals. Imagine if, instead, your thought is, 'Creating a website is hard. That's ok, I was made for this.' You will likely be feeling confident, fired up, committed and driven. You will likely then take the following action: 

  • Get into problem-solving mode 
  • Ask for help 
  • Talk to people, search chat groups for answers and tips 
  • Stay focused on the next task 

 

It is helpful to become aware of your thoughts at the early stages of your business-building journey. This awareness will help you escape scarcity and reaction mode and start thinking about the possibilities. Start paying more attention, writing down your thoughts and trying to catch the negative and unhelpful thoughts you have. 

 

Please don't turn this into an exercise of berating yourself and getting stuck into yourself about not doing things right or thinking certain things. Be always kind and compassionate. You want to learn and grow and keep moving forward. Stay focused on what you want to create.  

 

Remember, your thoughts and beliefs will create your reality, so the more you tune into them, the more success you will have.
