Creating Time in Your Week - Exercise and Self Care with Kids

Another big tip from me is to try to get as much of your exercise and self-care in with your kids so that you have free blocks of time when they are asleep to work on your business. I walk around our neighbourhood with my kids and play in many local parks. I park our car away from parks and pack my kids' bikes so that we have to walk/ride to the park, and we all get some exercise in. My kids love going to our local splash park at the pool on weekends, and my husband and I tag-team swimming laps.

In the afternoons, when my kids have rest/TV time, I have a heat pack sitting around my neck (I fell in love with this during my breastfeeding days), I have music I enjoy playing, and I make my favourite chai latte on the stove. When I am getting ready in the mornings or going to bed at night, I listen to an inspiring podcast or audiobook or watch a TV show on my phone/iPad (The Crown, Fleabag, Schitts Creek, House Edit and Morning Wars have been recent faves).

Some more things that I am hoping to get into this year include doing free Cosmic Yoga on YouTube with my kids, so I'm getting some stretches in, and they are having fun with the Yoga poses. I also started listening to a guided meditation while settling my daughter at night (it is free for a year on the Balance App and is fantastic) and want to get back into it. My mind is always on the go and racing with everything, so I need to find ways to bring more calm and quiet.

I also plan to use my treadmill at home a lot more. I have found it helpful to remove all excuses and not make a big event out of exercising. So, I plan to jump on my treadmill and watch or listen to something and get moving. I also want to do an online Pilates/strength class for Mums that I love more regularly. It is 15 minutes each day, and the more consistently I do it, the better I feel. I don't have time to get out to a gym or join a class, so the treadmill and an online program are perfect options for me at this stage of my life.
