Making a Start - Early Days of Working With Images

Canva has a great image stock selection available. Using Canva images has been so helpful as it has saved me paying for an additional stock photo subscription at this stage. There are many excellent curated stock subscriptions available, which are more targeted to my dream client, and which I will further investigate as I up my marketing game later: Haute Stock; Styled Stock Society; and Social Squares. I gained a six-month subscription to Styled Stock Society through a business bundle. It was great to see what was available – including the ability to search images based on theme and colour and many helpful Canva templates.

When working with images in Canva, a few helpful hints I can pass on include:

  • Resize images to match the optimal image size suggested by your platform. For Kajabi blog posts, this is 1280 x 720 pixels. Do this by selecting a stock image and clicking 'custom size.'
  • Move the image around to have what you want inside the frame. Sometimes you will need to let go of a vertical image you like because you can't get enough of the image into the horizontal frame.
  • You can import images you already have into Canva to resize them for your platform.
  • I generally download my images as a png, as Canva recommends it.
  • Once downloaded, I upload the image twice to each Kajabi blog post – for the blog and social images.
  • Make sure you SAVE any updates you make to your blog post and wait for everything to be updated. I learnt this the hard way as I kept navigating away from the blog post too quickly, losing the work I had done.
  • When searching for images for a particular blog post, if I see others that get my attention related to mama's life and business, I save them in a folder in Canva called 'spare'. This folder has provided me with a handy bank of images that I can use at a later stage.

Have you also found Canva great for working with images, or have you got other suggestions?
